Night had grown to become Bella's favorite time of day. Not two years ago she had been a fan of the day, sun blazing in the sky without a hint of a cloud. But two years ago Bella had not known Edward Cullen, and it was this that made all the difference. And as she waited impatiently for her paleolithic computer to connect to the internet, she mused over this thought. Had anyone ever suggested that she would grow to love Forks, Washington, to never wish to leave, Bella would have thought he or she was crazy. Now she had to wonder if she herself was crazy, because Bella could not think of life without Forks. No, she amended herself. She couldn't think of life without Edward.
It had been three days since Bella had last checked her email, meaning that as the days progressed, Renee's emails grew more and more frantic. Bella wondered how, after two years, Renee still hadn't grasped that Bella usually took at least that long to respond. She quickly typed out her response to her mother's messages, giving as minimal information as she could while still satisfying Renee's wishes. Renee had emailed her at least five times now to confirm the time she'd be arriving at the airport the day before Bella's wedding, and Bella patiently responded that she would be there to pick her up. Despite her irritation, Bella missed her mother sorely, and she was excited to be seeing her soon.
When she had finally finished appeasing her mother, Bella pressed the power button on the computer without bothering to wait for it to go through the process of shutting down "safely." She'd never seen that it made any difference, so there was no conceivable point to her waiting. Bella swung around in her chair, threw on pajama pants and a tank top, and headed for the bathroom, exchanging good-nights with Charlie on her way.
It was with some relief that Bella returned to her room, dragging a brush through her hair. Alone, her thoughts were allowed once more to drift, heading to her fiance once more. He had come to her room faithfully every night before this one, but Bella wondered every night if he would not show. After her eighteenth birthday there had always been a part of her that was terrified of his leaving her again. Even though she knew that there was no possible way of that happening, still a part of her harbored a worry that nothing would shake until she was bitten, sealing her to him for eternity. Bella set her brush down on her dresser and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
A glint on her finger caught her eye as Bella's gaze was drawn to the ring on her finger. The memory of the proposal was very clear in her mind, and Bella was sure she'd never forget the look of pure joy in his eyes when she'd finally accepted. Bella turned on her heel and walked swiftly over to the open window, gaze desperately scanning the pitch-black woods for a figure she knew she would not see. Disappointment escaped from her lips in a huff as Bella shut it with frustration, her heart stuttering nervously. Intellectually, she knew he would come; tonight was no different from any other night. But humans were not always intellectual beings.
She curled up in her bed and waited, completely still. Her eyes drooped, but she fought to keep them open, knowing that if she was asleep before he came, he would not wake her. And Bella definitely did not want to be asleep then-- she cherished every moment they had.

Edward was running.Edward ran swiftly through the forest. He didn’t slow until he finally reached where he wanted to be, the Swan residence. Edward knew Bella was lying in her bed, anxiously waiting his arrival, so he sped up, gracefully climbing up to her window, and into her bedroom. Edward gazed over at his beautiful fiancé.
Edward gracefully climbed into bed, next to her swooping her in his arms, kissing her on the forehead. “Hello love. Sorry I was late. What have you been doing?” He asked in his velvet, soothing voice, combing his fingers through her soft, auburn hair. Edward kept his golden eyed gaze on Bella.
He loved having this special time with her. Night was their time and it would never be any other way. The wedding was coming closer and closer and with it, Bella’s transformation. Edward knew full well that Bella was very eager for it, but still where he stood on the eagerness scale yet.
Edward brought Bella against him and sighed. “What am I going to do with you?” He asked chuckling to himself. ’Bella Cullen.’ It had a certain ring to it that he liked. Edward was eager for the wedding to get there, but knew before, they still had things they needed to do, and things he wasn’t really looking forward too, and knew Bella wasn’t either.
